I’m not here to sell you on Texas. You already know it’s big, bold, and proud. I’m here to show you the food that backs it up.
Texas Food Reviews was born from a simple truth: there’s way too much fluff out there. Sponsored lists. Recycled Yelp picks. Glossed-over “top 10s” written by people who’ve never stepped foot in a smokehouse. That’s not me.
I’m Larry Rojas—a South Texas native who grew up chasing brisket, breakfast tacos, and fried catfish that actually taste like something. I started this site because I wanted to document the meals that hit hard, the ones locals already know about, and the ones worth driving two hours for.
This isn’t a lifestyle blog. I don’t write for SEO bots or PR teams. I write for people who love real Texas food—whether that’s a brisket taco on the side of the road in El Campo or a plate of Tex-Mex that reminds you who you are. (If you’re new to the term, Tex-Mex is a hybrid of Mexican and American flavors—it’s not a trend, it’s a legacy.)

Whether you live in Dallas or Del Rio, I want this site to be the most authentic, no-nonsense food map in Texas.
Why It Matters
Texas is rich in culture, history, and flavor—from its Czech bakeries to its border-town taco spots. Places like these are part of our identity. And in a state this size, it’s easy for the good stuff to get buried under hype.
That’s why I built this site. To cut through the noise. To tell the truth. And to give you a local’s guide that respects what Texas food really is. (If you want to learn more about what this state stands for, check out Texas.gov—the official resource for all things Texas.)
If you’re curious about how this whole thing started or what we stand for, read Our Mission.
I’ll never accept money for a review. I’ll never hype a spot unless it deserves it. I eat the food. I pay the tab. I tell the truth.
And if that’s the kind of food review site you’ve been looking for?
Welcome to Texas Food Reviews.
